1999 Dodge Viper ACR Detailing Restoration
Customer brought us his 1999 Dodge Viper ACR. It was a new to him vehicle and the previous owners never took care of it. The paint showed many years of neglect and looked as if it had been washed with a brillo pad for most of its life. The owner wanted us to bring the vehicle back to life. Doing our Full Correction Package and CQuartz Finest application to protect the paint after detailing. We took the seats out of the interior and shampooed the carpet. With the seats out, the owner decided he also wanted to bring the seats back to life. After a good cleaning, we also decided to give the seats years of protection by coating them with Optimum Leather Coating. This gave the seats a deep black look and will help protect them from years of grime.
Here at Shine Auto Salon, we do what he can to make our customers beyond happy with their vehicles. One of the previous owners had nailed something with front bumper while driving. This created a massive 10″ gash in the bottom lip of the bumper. We removed the front bumper for our customer and took it down to our painters. He had to do a plastic weld to put the bumper back together…but after 5 days, the bumper was returned to us looking better than new. With it being black and now new looking, we decided to go ahead and lay some paint protection film over the bumper to prevent any future rock chips.
We spent nearly 60 hours on this vehicle, but it was beyond and amazing turn around. The customer was beyond thrilled and has been taking it to every car show he can attend.
To start with…the Viper was looking pretty gray when it showed up. Paint looked terrible in the sun.
From 10-15′ feet, the Viper was not looking like a Viper should.
Under the sun was a different story.
With any Viper we always remove the hood vents. This allows us to get better correction around the edges and not run the risk of burning the plastic vents.
With any major correction job, we can spend many hours just doing a test area to see what the end results would be. We also do this to see exactly what process will be needed to achieve our desired results. Here is the area we tested. Under our ceiling lights, the paint looked grey.
Here are the results of our testing. You can see the difference our Full Correction Package made on this tired black Dodge Viper.
Almost 60 hours later…this Viper was a completely different vehicle. We texted the owner many updates over the course of the job, telling him that this was going to be a completely different vehicle. Sure enough, when we were done and rolled this outside, it was a different vehicle than when it rolled in. Owner was beyond happy and could not stop talking about it.
With a major job like this and the Dodge Viper ACR being such a cool vehicle, we had Chadbee Photography out again to take some really nice photos for us.
